Weather & Island Conditions

Every sky island in Island Beekeeper carries its own climate pressure: cold snaps, storms, heat near volcanic rock, and calm clear skies that still change over time. Weather is not just flavor — it changes which buffs you brew, how you pack the Medocycle, and whether a trip is safe.

Use this page with Islands & Biomes, Survival, and Potions & Tea.

How Weather Shows Up

  • Arrival notifications tell you the welcome state and weather when you land (fixed if missing in 1.01.1).
  • Sky and ambient audio shift with conditions; a July 29 pass also cleaned blinking-sky and stray floating objects.
  • Patch 1.01.2 fixed weather that had stuck on clear so transitions work again.

If your client never leaves clear weather after traveling, update past 1.01.2 and restart the session.

Cold Islands and Tea

Cold biomes punish long outdoor work without resistance. After 1.01.1, tea brewed from tea leaves in a barrel grants a longer cold resistance duration. Keep leaves stocked before Medocycle flights into snow or high-altitude routes.

Cold checklist:

  1. Brew tea before departure
  2. Pack spare food and water
  3. Plan hive maintenance in shorter outdoor bursts
  4. Sleep or shelter if meters drop mid-storm

Heat, Lava, and Volcanic Routes

Volcanic islands add heat pressure and lethal lava after the July 29 balance pass. Do not treat lava pools as scenic hazards — falling in ends the run back at home (or your last safe point). Volcanic flowers also received a final-growth display fix in 1.01.2.

Bring potions that match the route, and keep the Medocycle fueled for a fast exit if exploration goes wrong.

Swamp and Moisture Biomes

Swamp routes matter for Swamp Honey potion recipes (Journal displays updated off Regular Honey). Visibility bugs such as the chest inside the central swamp statue were fixed in 1.01.2 — re-check landmarks after updating.

Humidity does not replace watering: garden beds still need the watering can, and plant collision fixes in 1.01.1 restored reliable watering hits.

Travel Planning With the Medocycle

Weather and fuel interact. Do not launch Flight Mode into a cold front with empty tea and a half jar of fuel. Read Medocycle for Travel versus Flight modes, then pack:

Trip typePack
Short hopSpare honey fuel, snack food
Cold islandTea, warm meals, smoker for quick hive work
VolcanicExtra food, potions, respect lava
Swamp specialty runEmpty jars, potion space, keys if needed

Dying on the Medocycle now returns you home instead of soft-locking on the same tile (1.01.1).

Co-op Weather Calls

In local co-op, call weather before splitting the party. One explorer on a cold island without tea wastes a revive cycle. Assign a quartermaster to brew tea and potions while others gather — Co-op Mode.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Why is weather stuck on clear skies?

That bug was fixed in hotfix 1.01.2. Update Island Beekeeper, restart, and travel between islands to confirm transitions again.

How do I resist cold weather?

Brew tea from tea leaves in a barrel. Patch 1.01.1 increased cold resistance duration. Pack tea before long cold-island trips.

Is lava dangerous in Island Beekeeper?

Yes. After the July 29 fixes, volcanic lava is lethal. Treat pools as kill zones and keep an escape route on the Medocycle.

Do I get weather warnings when landing?

You should see welcome and weather-condition notifications on arrival. If they are missing, update through hotfix 1.01.1 or later.

Does weather change honey production?

Flower growth and safe outdoor work time matter more than a hidden honey multiplier. Keep gardens watered and avoid long cold exposure without tea while maintaining hives.
